Tire Services from Woodward Tire

Alignment
Essentially, alignment refers to the way your vehicle's wheels are positioned. Ideally, your wheels should be perpendicular to the ground, parallel to each other and facing forward. When wheels are properly aligned, you'll get better gas mileage; tires will last longer; steering will be easier; your car will drive smoother; and most importantly, the driving experience will be safer. Alignment problems add stress to other vehicle components, including steering equipment and cause overall structural damage.

Everything from a collision to a bump in the road to components wearing out over time can cause your wheels to shift out of alignment. This could result in one of three different problems:

  • Camber - The wheels are tilted either inward or outward. This will create pulling and tire wear.
  • Toe - A change in the distance between the front and back of the rear tires. This will wear on the tires, too.
  • Caster - A backward or forward tilt at the top of the wheel's spindle support arm. This will cause either loose or difficult steering.

If any of these problems develop, they will begin to take their toll on your vehicle's tires and performance, as well as steering manageability.

How do you recognize an alignment problem?

  • Is your steering wheel straight when you are driving?
  • Does your vehicle pull to one side?
  • Does your steering wheel vibrate?
  • Do you notice uneven tire wear?
  • Does your steering feel loose, or is it difficult to control?

What can I expect from properly aligned wheels?
When your wheels are properly aligned, you'll get:

  • Tires that last longer
  • Easier steering
  • Improved gas mileage
  • Smoother ride
  • Safer, more secure driving
So, how do you know if your car is out of alignment?

Your vehicle's alignment can be impacted by a variety of factors. An obvious indication that you require Woodward Tire’s computerized alignment service is a major or minor collision that results in physical damage to your vehicle's frame. Steering problems or the presence of uneven wear patterns on your tires are clear signs that demand immediate attention. But alignment problems don't only occur by collisions and accidents; problems can arise by something as small as driving over a pothole or grazing over a curb.

Tire Patching and Repair
If you have a nail or object embedded in your tire, depending on how big and where the hole is located, the best scenario is likely to have the tire removed and patched from the inside so it is done correctly. The professionals at Woodward Tire will make an evalution concerning tire damage, extent, and location, to help determine whether or not tire repairs are feasible. Repair services Woodward Tire offers include:

  • Patching tires
  • Seal rims

Wheel Balance
Often confused with wheel alignment, a properly balanced wheel is a beautiful, perfectly tuned wheel-tire combination. This is accomplished by placing measured lead weights on the opposite side of the "heavy spot"—the noticeable tread wear on your unbalanced tire. Hitting potholes and normal vehicle wear-and-tear can cause unbalanced wheels. Uneven tire wear can indicate unbalanced wheels, so it's wise to check and rotate your vehicle's tires regularly.

How do I know if I need my wheels balanced? Please refer to FAQ page.
